MBB: Hawks' Juaquin Dixon Named NJCAA Player of the Week

CHICAGO — Malcolm X College sophomore Joaquin Dixon was named the NJCAA Player of the Week after a series of standout performances that have helped the Hawks to an 8-3 start.

At the time of the national honor, Dixon was leading Region 4 with 23.3 points per game.  He has shown consistency against ranked opponents and teams receiving votes in the national poll during the first 11 games the season.  During his award winning week of performances, Dixon totalled 84 points on 31-58 shooting (53%) in victories over Truman, Triton and Highland.  Triton had received national poll votes when the two teams met on Dec. 4.

Dixon has consisently performed well against some of the NJCAA's top 25 ranked teams.  On Nov. 7 against then-No. 11 Indian Hills, Dixon scored 25 points. The following day against then-No. 8 Coffeyville, he led Malcolm X with 30 points.
