Kennedy-King Selected to Host Region 4 Tournament in 2027 and 2028

ELGIN, IL — At today's NJCAA Region 4 meeting, Kennedy-King College was selected to host the region's Division I Men's and Women's basketball postseason tournaments for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.

Region 4, Division I basketball consists of teams from Triton, Highland, Kankakee, Sauk Valley, Kennedy-King, Daley, Olive-Harvey, Malcolm X, Truman and Wright Colleges.  For the tournament in 2027, Kennedy-King will host a total of six games.  Four total semi-final games, two each for the men and women, as well as championship games for each.  The same bracket structure will be followed in 2028.

City Colleges of Chicago teams enjoyed great success in the region tournament in the past two years it has been hosted at Triton College.  The Olive-Harvey women's basketball team won the championship in 2025 and returned to the title game this past March.  On the men's side, Olive-Harvey was the number one seed in this year's tournament that eventually saw Malcolm X claim the region title.

Triton, Highland and Malcolm X joined Kennedy-King in presenting proposals to all 32 member colleges at the Region 4 meeting held at Elgin College.  Dates and times for the 2027 tournament will be announced later this year.
