A Truman alumnus, Marco Acevedo graduated with an Associate in Arts degree in 1989 and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  On the baseball field, Acevedo was a two-time NJCAA All-Region IV performer and team MVP who tallied a .438 batting average in 1989 before participating in the Region IV All-Star Game.
 
After concluding his Truman career, Acevedo transferred to St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.  A two-year starter at second base, Acevedo was the recipient of the team’s Varsity and Hustle Award as well as the Pride Award in both 1990 and 1991.  He garnered Newcomer of the Year accolades in his inaugural campaign with the Hilltoppers.
 
During his tenure at St. Edward’s, Acevedo produced a .358 batting average while fielding at a .987 clip.
 
Acevedo continued his baseball career in Puerto Rico, signing an amateur contract with Aguada.  In his second season with the team in 1992, Acevedo hit a team-best .400 en route to his team claiming the Coliceba Triple A Championship.
 
Acevedo went on to become Camuy’s second pick of the Puerto Rico Double A amateur draft 1992.
 
A 1987 graduate of Roberto Clemente High School in Chicago, Acevedo was named All-City and helped his team capture the City Championship his senior year.
 
Along with his coaching duties at Truman, Acevedo assumed the role of Vice President of the Chicago Police and Fire Baseball Club – Knights in 2018.  Besides being vice president of the charitable organization, which plays in local and national tournaments, Acevedo is also a member of the team.
 
In addition, Acevedo competes nationally in the Men’s Senior Baseball League, where he has won numerous championships with the Chicago Royals.
 
In addition to his associate's degree, Acevedo earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Edward’s and a master’s degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
