Men's Basketball 1/12/2023 2:57:39 PM VIDEO: Game Day Thursday The men's and women's basketball teams from Malcolm X and Wright will took the floor Thursday against separate non-conference opponents. City Colleges of Chicago Athletes of the Week Travis Easterly and Tamya Russell will lead their respective teams at home against Harper. First, the Lady Hawks picked up their third straight for the first time this season with a 71-42 win. Russell led four Hawks in double-figures with 26 points. She also had ten assists and was a rebound shy of a triple-double finishing with nine. Teammate Enija Brown-Griffin turned in a double-double performance herself with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Caitlyn Magee chipped in 13 and Adeola Badmos added 12 in the win. The men made it a sweep with their ten point win over Harper 87-77. Sayo Kenneth lead the way with 13 points, but a total of 13 different players recorded points in the game and 48 were scored by the bench. In the video above, Head Coach Ron White and Travis Easterly comment on the win, but also on the importance of depth and balance on the team's success. Meanwhile, the Wright men and women traveled to River Grove to face Triton. The Lady Rams picked up their second straight win topping the Lady Trojans 78-73. Daria Jordan led three Rams in scoring with 23 points. Tyler Mayne secured a double-double performance with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kaylee Morales added 11 points of her own in the win. After winning three straight prior to the holiday break, the Wright men have lost their third straight to 11th. ranked Triton 85-34.
