Malcolm X came up short in a high-scoring battle Friday night, dropping an 85-75 decision to (11) Indian Hills at the Hellyer Center. The loss moves the Hawks to 1-1 on the season.
Juaquin Dixon led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc while adding eight free throws. Denyell Rush chipped in 14 points and three rebounds, and Cortez Abel provided a strong inside presence with nine points and a team-high seven boards. Off the bench, Karim Lebon-Mohamed added eight points, and Aaron McClure contributed six points and four rebounds.
Malcolm X shot 45.1% from the floor and 72.7% from the line, rallying in the second half with 46 points, but couldn’t overcome Indian Hills’ size and second-chance scoring.
