OTTUMWA, Iowa — Malcolm X College couldn’t overcome (8) Coffeyville’s second-half surge Saturday afternoon, falling 76-63 at the Hellyer Center to drop to 1-2 on the season.
Juaquin Dixon led the Hawks with a game-high 30 points, shooting 12-of-28 from the field and adding two 3-pointers and four free throws. Denyell Rush contributed 11 points and six rebounds, while Arnas Samaitis chipped in nine points and three boards. Aaron McClure provided a strong presence off the bench with six points and a team-high 12 rebounds, helping Malcolm X win the battle in the paint with 38 points inside.
Despite shooting 38.3% from the field and improving after halftime, the Hawks struggled with turnovers and second-chance points, allowing Coffeyville to pull away late.
