MBB: Hawks Rally Past Cavaliers 92-85 Behind Dixon's 25

CHICAGO — Joaquin Dixon poured in a game-high 25 points on 7-of-13 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line, adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals as Malcolm X College overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Kankakee Community College 92-85 on Thursday night.

Denyell Rush added 19 points on efficient 6-of-11 shooting with two 3-pointers, three rebounds, two assists and three steals, while Aaron McClure sparked the bench with 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Hawks, who trailed 49-41 at the break but dominated the second half 51-36.

Sam Vil contributed 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting, including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, with three rebounds and two steals. Jymier Garry-Shields added six points on perfect 4-for-4 free throws off the bench, Cortez Abel provided seven points, five rebounds and four blocks, and Arnas Samaitis tallied six points, four rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals.

Malcolm X shot 52.8 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from 3-point range while blocking seven shots and collecting 11 steals as a team to secure the home victory.
