MBB: Daley Outlasts Kennedy-King Behind Second-Half Surge

CHICAGO — Richard J. Daley College stormed back from a halftime deficit to edge Kennedy-King 74–73 on Jan. 13, riding a 50-point second half and a trio of strong scoring efforts.

Mathis Coly led the Bulldogs with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including a three-pointer and a pair of free throws. Octavius Parker II matched him with 17 points of his own, adding seven assists while knocking down two threes. Isaiah Brown and Antwon Agee each added 14 points, with Brown grabbing five rebounds and Agee contributing five boards and three assists.

Daley shot 41.8 percent from the floor but struggled from long range at 3-for-21. Still, timely scoring in the second half allowed the Bulldogs to overcome a 37–24 halftime deficit.

Kennedy-King countered with a balanced offensive performance. Reggie Ray led the Statesmen with 17 points, converting all six of his free throws and grabbing two rebounds. Rashawn Emer-Lake recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Elias Vargas added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Kennedy-King shot 48.1 percent from the field and 5-for-14 from deep while outrebounding Daley 40–26. But Daley’s second-half run proved the difference, as the Bulldogs held off the Statesmen in the final minutes to secure the one-point win.
