CHICAGO — Malcolm X College used a fast start and a dominant shooting performance to defeat Wilbur Wright College 94–50 on Jan. 27 in a men’s basketball matchup at Malcolm X.
The Hawks shot 56.3 percent from the field and had six players score in double figures, led by Joaquin Dixon’s explosive 30-point outing. Dixon went 12-for-16 from the floor, hit both of his 3-point attempts and added six rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
Cortez Abel posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Gabe Jackson added 12 points off the bench, including two 3-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 at the line. Denyell Rush and Rashaad Wilson contributed 10 and 4 points respectively, helping fuel a bench unit that combined for 40 points.
Arnas Samaitis added five points and six rebounds, and Tramell Green and Sam Vil each pulled down six boards as Malcolm X controlled the interior with a 46–rebound effort.
Malcolm X opened the night with a 49-15 first half, building a lead Wright couldn’t overcome despite scoring 35 after halftime.
