MBB: Hawks Dominate Phantoms 85-60 Behind Rush's 17

CHICAGO — Denyell Rush led with a team-high 17 points on efficient 7-of-11 shooting with a 3-pointer, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, and Cortez Abel posted seven points, a game-high 12 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal as Malcolm X College cruised past East West University 85-60 on Wednesday night.

Sam Vil added 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting with two 3-pointers, a rebound, an assist and a steal, while Camren Marlow contributed 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds and two steals for the Hawks, who led 42-33 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.

Karim Lebon-Mohamed chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench, Arnas Samaitis provided nine points, five rebounds, an assist and a block, and Gabe Jackson tallied four points with eight assists and four rebounds.

Malcolm X shot 50.8 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from beyond the arc while grabbing 49 rebounds, blocking six shots and collecting seven steals as a team in the home victory.
