MBB: Hawks Edge Bulldogs in Tight City Clash

CHICAGO — Joaquin Dixon scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting with three 3-pointers, seven rebounds and three assists, and Karim Lebon-Mohamed added 17 points on efficient 7-of-14 shooting with two 3-pointers as Malcolm X College held off Richard J. Daley College 82-79 on Thursday night.

Pape Dieng contributed 14 points and five rebounds, Arnas Samaitis provided seven points and seven rebounds, and Cortez Abel tallied eight points with four assists for the Hawks, who led 40-42 at halftime but sealed the win with a 42-37 second half while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and grabbing 26 rebounds.

For Daley, Octavius Parker II led with 25 points on five 3-pointers and six assists, Zaccai Armstrong posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Isaiah Brown added 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Antwon Agee chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Mathis Coly tallied 10 points in a strong effort that kept the Bulldogs competitive throughout, shooting 46 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from beyond the arc while forcing 10 turnovers.
