MBB: Hawks Capture Back-to-Back CCC Championships with Win

CHICAGO — Joaquin Dixon poured in a team-high 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting with three 3-pointers, seven rebounds and seven assists, and Arnas Samaitis added 16 points, 10 rebounds, a block and two steals as Malcolm X College defeated Kennedy-King College 90-66 on Tuesday night.  The win allowed Malcolm X to claim their second consecutive City Colleges of Chicago men's basketball championship with a 9-1 conference mark.

Pape Dieng contributed 15 points and five rebounds, Karim Lebon-Mohamed chipped in eight points, six rebounds and an assist, and Denyell Rush tallied eight points off the bench for the Hawks, who led 38-36 at halftime and dominated the second half 52-30 while shooting 56.1 percent from the field and blocking 12 shots as a team.

Cortez Abel provided a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks.

In the past two seasons under veteran head coach Ron White, the Hawks have gone a combined 19-1 in CCC play.
