WBB: Panthers Survive Quarterfinals to Advance in Region Tournament

CHICAGO — Khadijah Phillips scored 12 points with seven rebounds and an assist, and La'Kyra Johnson added 12 points, three rebounds and three assists as No. 2 seed Olive-Harvey held off No. 7 Truman 60-56 in the NJCAA Region 4 Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday night.

Angel Dickerson contributed 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals, Karla Thomas posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds plus a block and two steals, and Mariah Barksdale chipped in eight points and five rebounds for the Panthers, who led 35-25 at halftime and withstood a late push to secure the victory.

Olive-Harvey shot 37 percent from the field and grabbed 41 rebonds while dishing 10 assists in the home win. With the victory, the Panthers advance to Wednesday's semi-final against City Colleges of Chicago rival Malcolm X at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois, for a spot in Saturday's championship game.
