Namon Smith, left, had 31 points and 18 rebounds in Daley's win; Nicolas Rios, middle, scored 12 points in Wright's victory; and Hassan Potts totaled 13 points, nine assists and four steals in Truman's setback.
The Daley and Wright men’s basketball teams picked up wins Thursday over Rockford University JV and Oakton Community College, respectively, while Truman fell to Moraine Valley Community College.
 
Daley 104, Rockford JV 81
CHICAGO – Paced by Namon Smith’s (Hope College Prep) 31 points, season-high 18 rebounds and five assists, the Daley men’s basketball team defeated Rockford University JV 104-81 on Thursday at Daley.
 
Steven Hudson (Dunbar H.S.) netted a personal-best 28 points, and Shaquille Crisp (Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy) contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Kobe Blackwell (Kennedy H.S.) totaled 14 points, while Mario Pittman (Leo H.S.) registered 11 points and eight assists.
 
Rockford stormed out to a 17-6 lead with 12:57 remaining in the first half, but the Bulldogs scored the next 11 points to deadlock the game at 17-17.  Smith put the hosts ahead to stay when his three pointer gave Daley a 30-27 advantage.
 
Daley (4-7) pulled away 51-44 at the half and dominated the second stanza, leading by as many as 30 points before winning by 23.  

 
Wright 96, Oakton 86
DES PLAINES, Ill. Kewan Smith (Chicago Vocational Career Academy), ranked fifth in the country among NJCAA Division II players with a 23.6 points-per-game average, scored 31 markers to help the Wright men’s basketball team knock off Oakton Community College 96-86 on Thursday at OCC.
 
In addition to leading all players in scoring, the 5-foot, 8-inch sophomore guard tied teammate Markese Hill (Collins H.S.), who finished with 16 points, for game-high honors with five assists apiece.
 
Also contributing to the Rams’ balanced offense were Armond Richmond (West Town Academy), Nicolas Rios and Antonio Newman (Marshall H.S.), who chipped 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively.
 
Ahmad Brown (Al Raby H.S.) was a strong presence in the paint, finishing with game-high totals of 12 rebounds and four blocks.
 
Wright (4-5), which had a commanding 46-29 rebounding advantage for the game, led 48-40 at the intermission and edged the Owls 48-46 in the second half.
 

Moraine Valley 82, Truman 69
CHICAGO Hassan Potts (Harlan H.S.) scored 13 points, led all players with nine assists and tied for the top spot on the game charts with four steals in the Truman men’s basketball team’s 82-69 loss to Moraine Valley Community College on Thursday at the Dave Rowlands Sports Center.
 
Keishun Thomas (St. Patrick H.S.) added 12 points, and Harvey Moss (Leo H.S.) posted his second straight double-double, compiling 10 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.
 
After falling behind 50-34 at the half, Truman outscored the Cyclones 35-32 in the second period.
