Despite a 3-0 loss to Southwestern Illinois College (25-8, 25-8, 25-12) on Aug. 22, the Malcolm X College Hawks saw encouraging performances from several key players in their continued development this season.

Cashay Page led the Hawks offensively with four kills and added two solo blocks, showing strength at the net. Annilee Zeilmann contributed two kills and served up two aces, while Kamiya Butler added steady playmaking and defensive support.

Nyla Wilson and Jamaris Nguyen each chipped in with solid defensive efforts, combining for seven digs, and Rhayvel Gramonte added a kill and a block assist.

Though the Hawks struggled to find rhythm against a strong Southwestern Illinois squad, their energy and hustle were evident throughout the match. Malcolm X continues to build chemistry and experience as they progress through the early season schedule.
