The Olive-Harvey Panthers triumphed over the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats, 88-70, in the NJCAA Division I North Central District Championship, earning a spot in the national tournament scheduled for later this month. With the victory, Olive-Harvey improved their already impressive record to 33-1.
Nakia Bardney was the star of the game, delivering a dominant performance with 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 13-of-17 from the free throw line. Her ability to score both inside and from the line played a critical role in the Panthers' success. Khadijah Phillips was equally effective, adding 23 points, including an impressive 13-of-14 from the charity stripe, while also contributing 5 rebounds.
Cashay Dixon chipped in with 16 points, hitting 3 three-pointers and providing crucial scoring from beyond the arc. Khaniah Gardner controlled the paint, securing 15 rebounds along with 8 points, showcasing her defensive presence and dominance on the boards.
The Panthers out-rebounded NDSCS 46-31, and gave them no breathing room by hitting on 82.1% (32-39) of their chances at the free throw line.
With the victory, Olive-Harvey now looks ahead to the NJCAA Women’s Division I National Championship Tournament, which will be held from March 25 to April 1 in Casper, Wyoming.
