SOUTH HOLLAND, IL – The Olive-Harvey College Panthers shut out Triton College 4-0 on Thursday afternoon, backed by a dominant two-man pitching effort and timely hitting.
Antwan Harvey and Dylan McGee combined to silence the Trojans’ offense, allowing just two hits over nine innings. Harvey earned the win after tossing eight scoreless frames, striking out four and walking three. McGee came on in the ninth to close it out, striking out one and securing the final out of the game.
The Panthers got on the board early when Tyler Dejesus ripped a triple to deep right-center following a six-pitch at-bat in the top of the first. Olive-Harvey added another run in the second inning, thanks to Pedro Agosto’s RBI double down the right field line after a seven-pitch battle at the plate. The Panthers extended the lead with two more runs across the middle innings.
Dejesus led the offense with two RBIs, while Agosto and Marcus Taylor each collected a pair of hits. Taylor also added pressure on the basepaths with two stolen bases.
The win keeps the Panthers championship hopes alive as they advanced in the losers bracket and a rematch with top-seed South suburban at 3:00.
South Suburban 10 Olive-Harvey 5
The Olive-Harvey College Panthers outhit South Suburban College on Thursday, 8-6, and held a lead late, but a big eighth inning by the Bulldogs proved to be the difference in a 10-5 setback.
Olive-Harvey showed grit throughout, rallying from an early 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 lead in the top of the sixth. The Panthers capitalized on a pair of Bulldog errors, and Adan Abarca added a sacrifice fly to highlight a three-run frame that gave Olive-Harvey momentum heading into the late innings.
Marcus Taylor and Caleb Rhodes each had strong days at the plate, collecting two hits apiece to lead the Panthers’ eight-hit attack. Taylor also drove in a run, along with Abarca, Alijah Rainey, and Rhodes, as Olive-Harvey spread its offense across the lineup.
On the mound, Muhammad Abdelfattah delivered a solid start, allowing just two runs on three hits over seven innings of work. He struck out one and navigated five walks, keeping the Bulldogs in check until the eighth.
