WBB: Kennedy-King Holds Off Daley Behind Balanced Scoring, Dominant Rebounding

CHICAGO — Kennedy-King College used a strong interior presence and a balanced scoring effort to earn a 73–67 win over Richard J. Daley College on Dec. 13.

Kennedy-King controlled the boards with a 56–32 rebounding advantage, led by Destiny Taylor’s 15 rebounds and 10 points and Camryn Walker’s 18 points and 14 rebounds. Jaydah Jackson paced the Statesmen with 20 points, hitting seven field goals and five free throws, while Fantasia Williams provided a huge boost off the bench with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting, along with nine rebounds.

Daley countered with strong guard play. Khamarianna Payne led the Bulldogs with 22 points, connecting on nine field goals and two threes. Jenesis Massenburg added 16 points, going 5-for-6 at the free-throw line. Evelyn Isaac posted 14 points and nine rebounds, and Nyah Hubbard filled the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and four steals.

Despite Daley’s 25-point fourth quarter surge, Kennedy-King maintained control throughout thanks to efficient shooting (43.5 percent) and relentless offensive rebounding, grabbing 30 boards on the offensive end alone.

Daley finished 6-for-19 from beyond the arc and shot 65 percent at the line, but couldn’t overcome the Statesmen’s inside advantage.
