Games of the Year: Rams Shutout Statesmen

Throughout the summer, we will recap the top on field and on court moments with the CCC Games of the Year.

The Wilbur Wright College women’s volleyball team opened their season with a dominant straight-set sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) over Kennedy-King College.

Mara Jamias led the attack with a match-high 12 kills on 20 attempts while adding 4 service aces and 8 digs for 16.0 points.

Chloe Garcia and Lydianis Boutureira were nearly unstoppable, each posting 9 kills with perfect or near-perfect efficiency — Garcia went 9-0-13 (.692) with 13 digs and an ace, while Boutureira went 9-0-10 (.900).

Setter Valeria Mercado ran the offense flawlessly, dishing out 37 assists and adding 2 aces.

Alanna Hyland delivered a huge serving performance with 8 aces, creating constant pressure on Kennedy-King’s back row.

The Rams attacked at a blistering .614 clip as a team and served aggressively throughout, combining for 17 aces in the three-set victory.
