Tuesday, August 26, 2025 • 6:00 p.m. • 4300 N Narragansett, Chicago The Wilbur Wright College women’s volleyball team opened their season with a dominant straight-set sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) over Kennedy-King College. Mara Jamias led the attack with a match-high 12 kills on 20 attempts while adding 4 service aces and 8 digs for 16.0 points. Chloe Garcia and Lydianis Boutureira were nearly unstoppable, each posting 9 kills with perfect or near-perfect efficiency — Garcia went 9-0-13 (.692) with 13 digs and an ace, while Boutureira went 9-0-10 (.900). Setter Valeria Mercado ran the offense flawlessly, dishing out 37 assists and adding 2 aces. Alanna Hyland delivered a huge serving performance with 8 aces, creating constant pressure on Kennedy-King’s back row. The Rams attacked at a blistering .614 clip as a team and served aggressively throughout, combining for 17 aces in the three-set victory.
