The Olive-Harvey, Wright and Truman men’s basketball teams all suffered losses Tuesday, falling to Triton College, Elgin Community College and Sauk Valley Community College, respectively.
Triton 93, Olive-Harvey 85
CHICAGO – Ahead by 12 points in the first half against Triton College, the defending NJCAA Division II champion, the Olive-Harvey men’s basketball team was on course for a monumental win.
But the Panthers saw their lead shrink to 46-44 at the half before getting outscored 49-39 in the final 20 minutes to suffer a 93-85 setback Tuesday at OHC.
Kendrick Robinson (Harper H.S.) led the Panthers with 19 points, while Joell Davis (Kenwood Academy) scored 17 markers. Willie Greenwood (Proviso East H.S.) contributed 10 points and team-best nine rebounds, and Jaelon Hood (Proviso East H.S.) tied for game-high honors with six assists.
Elgin 107, Wright 97
CHICAGO – The largest scoring total of the season wasn't enough to lead the Wright men's basketball team to victory as the Rams were on the short end of a 107-97 decision against visiting Elgin Community College on Tuesday.
Jason Newman (Orr H.S.) and Demarco Graham (Curie Metropolitan H.S.) both scored 28 points for the Rams, who also received 21 points and 10 assists from Emanuel Oneal (Orr H.S.). Kente Rushing (Vincent H.S./Milwaukee, Wis.) finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Graham, Rushing and Bobby Frierson (Al Raby H.S.) each had four steals.
Wright was down 54-41 at the half but owned a 56-53 scoring surplus in the final 20 minutes.
Sauk Valley 78, Truman 57
DIXON, Ill. – Keishun Thomas (St. Patrick H.S.) totaled 14 points and five assists and Terell Ousley Jr. (Crane H.S.) netted 13 points in the Truman men’s basketball team’s 78-57 loss at Sauk Valley Community College on Tuesday.
Joseph Cadney (Phillips H.S.) had three steals to tie for game-high honors.
