On the final day of the regular season, the Daley men’s basketball team defeated Olive-Harvey in a CCC contest, while Truman knocked off Kishwaukee College. Kennedy-King and Malcolm X lost to Sauk Valley Community College and Highland Community College, respectively.
Daley 92, Olive-Harvey 83
CHICAGO – Saving his best performance for the final game of the regular season, Clavone Hillard (North Lawndale Community Prep) of the Daley men’s basketball team posted career highs of 41 points and 22 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 92-83 CCC victory over Olive-Harvey on Saturday at OHC.
Just two days earlier, the Panthers downed Daley 93-80.
Hillard connected on 16-of-25 field goals, including 4-of-9 from three-point range, in addition to making five free throws en route to his game-high total.
Other key contributors to Daley’s offense were Lamont Wilson (Curie Metropolitan H.S.) (15 points), Jalen Frizell (Whitney Young H.S.) (14 points) and Everette Patton (Phillips H.S.) (11 points). Patton led all players with six assists.
Willie Greenwood (Proviso East H.S.) and Xavier Hicks (Little Village H.S.) paced Olive-Harvey with 14 points apiece. Kendrick Robinson (Harper H.S.) added 13 points, Joell Davis (Kenwood Academy) chipped in 12 and Jaelon Hood (Proviso East H.S.) tallied 11 for the Panthers, who had 11 players crack the scoring column.
Greenwood and Robinson both had double-doubles, collecting 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Robinson also dished off four assists.
OHC, which owned a 42-40 advantage at the half, was in front 48-46 with 16:47 to play when Daley staged a 7-0 run to pull away 53-48 at the 14:39 mark. The Bulldogs would hold on to the lead the remainder of the game, increasing the margin to as many as 15 points.
Truman 83, Kishwaukee 71
MALTA, Ill. – Ending the regular season on a positive note, the Truman men’s basketball team downed host Kishwaukee College 83-71 on Saturday.
Justin Parker (Epric Academy) scored a personal-best 21 points, and Keishun Thomas (St. Patrick H.S.) produced his second collegiate double-double in his two-year stint with the Falcons after totaling 20 points and a career-high 10 assists.
Dusaan Allen (Schurz H.S.) authored a double-double as well, compiling 19 points and 14 rebounds. Keshaun Surney (Mather H.S.) netted 17 points to equal his all-time best.
Thomas and Surney each had three steals to tie for game-high honors.
Truman, which improved to 12-17 with the triumph, led 45-35 at the half and edged the Kougars 38-36 in the final 20 minutes.
Sauk Valley 77, Kennedy-King 55
DIXON, Ill. – The Kennedy-King men’s basketball team lost 77-55 to Sauk Valley Community College in the regular-season finale Saturday at SVCC.
Highland 90, Malcolm X 58
FREEPORT, Ill. – Jamaal Gill (Hyde Park Academy) scored 17 points and added a game-high six assists, while Okeitho Marshall (Leo H.S.) finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the Malcolm X men’s basketball team’s 90-58road loss to Highland Community College on Saturday.
Entering the regular-season finale, MXC had won three of its previous four games.
