The Kennedy-King men’s basketball team defeated Truman in a CCC clash Tuesday, while Daley and Olive-Harvey both lost by three points as they came up short against South Suburban College and McHenry County College, respectively.
Kennedy-King 79, Truman 62
CHICAGO – A 10-0 run late in the second half fueled the Kennedy-King men’s basketball team to a 79-62 CCC victory against Truman on Tuesday at the Willie Little Gymnasium.
The game was deadlocked at 58-58 with 7:06 to play when the Statesmen staged their rally, which boosted their surplus to 68-58 at the 3:30 mark. The 17-point margin at the conclusion of the contest matched the largest of the contest.
In all, the game featured 12 ties and 11 lead changes.
KKC’s Isaiah Banks (Broad Ripple H.S./Indianapolis, Ind.) topped the victors with 20 points. Terrell Stiger (King H.S.) added 14 points.
Sammie Davis (Tilden H.S.) had a game-best 14 rebounds.
Truman’s Dusaan Allen (Schurz H.S.) tallied a game-best 23 points, while Keishun Thomas (St. Patrick H.S.) and Keshaun Surney (Mather H.S.) netted 15 and 10 markers, respectively.
South Suburban 83, Daley 80
CHICAGO – Clavone Hillard (North Lawndale Community Prep) scored 28 points to tie for game-high honors in the Daley men’s basketball team’s 83-80 loss to visiting South Suburban College on Tuesday.
Joining Hillard in double figures were Nathan Towsen Jr. (Bogan H.S.) (14 points), Lamont Wilson (Curie Metropolitan H.S.) (13 points) and Jalen Frizell (Whitney Young H.S.) (10 points).
Along with their scoring, Wilson grabbed 10 rebounds to publish a double-double and Towsen recorded a game-high eight steals.
In a tightly-played game from start to finish, SSC led 39-37 at the half and owned a slim 44-43 scoring advantage in the second stanza.
McHenry 79, Olive-Harvey 76
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – Despite leading 41-32 at the half, the Olive-Harvey men’s basketball team lost a 79-76 decision to McHenry County College on Tuesday at MCC.
The Fight Scots outscored OHC 47-35 in the final 20 minutes to come away with the three-point victory.
Kendrick Robinson (Harper H.S.) did his part for the Panthers, finishing with 35 points to account for nearly half of the offense. He also pulled down 12 rebounds to publish his 13th double-double of the season.
Samuel Moore (Thornwood H.S.) contributed 15 points.
