Daley 86, Truman 72
CHICAGO – Tied 36-36 at the half, the Daley men’s basketball team outscored Truman 50-36 in the second period to come away with an 86-72 CCC win Saturday at the Dave Rowlands Sports Center.
Daley’s Nathan Towsen Jr. (Bogan H.S.) scored a game-high 27 points, falling just two points shy of his personal-best of 29 markers, which he tallied in the Bulldogs’ previous outing last Saturday. The sophomore guard sank 8-of-9 field goals against Truman, including his lone three-point attempt, along with 10-of-13 free throws. In addition, he was Daley’s leader with five assists.
Towsen also excelled defensively, topping the game charts with a personal-best nine steals.
Jalen Frizell (Whitney Young H.S.) netted 18 points and Clavone Hillard (North Lawndale Community Prep) finished with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Truman’s Dusaan Allen (Schurz H.S.) compiled 23 points and a game-best nine rebounds. Keishun Thomas (St. Patrick H.S.) contributed 16 points and led all players with six assists, while Sharif King (Hope H.S.) cracked double figures in scoring for the first time this season, registering 12 points after converting 6-of-9 shots from the field.
Wright 88, DuPage 75
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. – Emanuel Oneal (Orr H.S.) recorded a triple-double to help lead the Wright men’s basketball team to an 88-75 win against College of DuPage in a North Central Community College Conference game Saturday at COD.
Oneal finished with 15 points, a game- and career-high 12 assists and 10 rebounds. David Jasson (Uplift H.S.) topped the game charts with 29 points and a personal-best seven assists, while Antonio Newman (Marshall H.S.) scored 18 markers. D’Andre Payne (Providence-St. Mel H.S.) chipped in 10 points.
With the game knotted at 8-8, Wright went ahead to stay courtesy of a 6-0 run. The Rams upped the difference to 43-27 at the break and kept the margin in double figures the entire second half.
Sauk Valley 82, Kennedy-King 74
CHICAGO – A strong second-half showing wasn’t enough to carry the Kennedy-King men’s basketball team to victory as the Statesmen lost 82-74 to Sauk Valley Community College on Saturday at the Willie Little Gymnasium.
KKC outscored the guests 46-38 in the final 20 minutes, but that surplus could not compensate for a 44-28 shortfall in the first period.
Isaiah Banks (Broad Ripple H.S./Indianapolis, Ind.) paced Kennedy-King with 19 points. Javon Stovall (McKinley H.S./Canton, Ohio) followed with 13 points and Devine Conley (Phillips H.S.) added 12.
Larenz Smith (Mayde Creek H.S./Houston, Texas) dished out a career best five assists.
