Three Double-Doubles Lead Malcolm X Men’s Basketball Team Past Truman

CHICAGO – Three double-doubles by the Malcolm X men’s basketball team carried the Hawks to an 89-78 CCC victory over Truman on Tuesday at MXC.
 
Following his career-best 40 points on Saturday, Malcolm X’s Oliver McCall (Thornridge H.S.) poured in a game-high 33 points against Truman to go along with 10 rebounds.  Jarquis Medley (Hubbard H.S.) scored 16 points and topped the game charts with 11 rebounds.  In addition, Medley chipped in four steals and two blocks, which tied him for game-high honors.
 
Okeitho Marshall (Leo H.S.) contributed 13 points and 10 boards.
 
Jamaal Gill (Hyde Park Academy) was a key component to the win as well as he had 18 points and a game-high nine assists.
 
Dusaan Allen’s (Schurz H.S.) well-rounded effort for Truman included 22 points, seven rebounds, a game-high five steals and two blocks.  Keishun Thomas (St. Patrick H.S.) recorded in 21 points.
 
Joseph Cadney (Phillips H.S.) posted personal-best totals of 16 points and six assists.
 
Truman was ahead 63-62 with 7:16 to play when MXC answered with four consecutive points to take the lead for good.  In front 80-76 at the 1:45 mark, the Hawks closed out the game on a 9-2 run.
 
Both halves were nearly identical in terms of scoring.  Malcolm X edged the Falcons 44-39 in the first half and 45-39 in the second.
