WVB: Championship Run Ends for Panthers

In the NJCAA District Volleyball Tournament on November 9, 2024, the Southwestern Illinois College Blue Storm delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over the Olive-Harvey Panthers, with set scores of 25-6, 25-6, and 25-7.

Southwestern Illinois showcased their strength across the board. Meikayla Graham led the charge with 10 kills on 14 attempts, hitting an outstanding .643, while Abby Kesterson added 9 kills with a .750 hitting percentage. Grace Johnson and Emma Day were also key contributors, with 6.5 and 8 points, respectively. Emily Ruppert impressed defensively with 11 digs and served up 3 aces, while Ashlynn Hughes added 3 blocks and 4 kills, contributing 8 points.

Despite the challenging match, Olive-Harvey put forth a determined effort against a highly competitive Southwestern Illinois team. Though the Panthers were unable to match the Blue Storm’s firepower, their presence in the tournament highlighted their hard work and dedication throughout the season that resulted in the school's first ever volleyball championship in Region 4, Division I and 16-25 record.
