MBB: Malcolm X vs. Sauk Valley

The Malcolm X Hawks improved their record to 7-1 with a thrilling 99-93 victory over Sauk Valley in a fast-paced matchup on November 26. The game was an offensive showcase, with both teams trading baskets in a high-scoring affair that saw Malcolm X fend off a late charge from Sauk Valley.

Malcolm X was powered by a balanced offensive attack, with six players scoring in double figures. Angel Edmonson was a key force inside, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Brandon Cromer came off the bench to provide a spark, leading the team with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Kevin McGhee and Darion Williams added firepower from three-point range, each knocking down four triples. McGhee finished with 14 points and 5 assists, while Williams contributed 14 points, including some clutch free throws down the stretch.

Despite building a 49-43 lead at halftime, the Hawks had to weather a strong second-half push from Sauk Valley. Malcolm X maintained their composure, scoring another 50 points in the second half to seal the win. Juaquin Dixon and Jaloni Johnson also played pivotal roles, combining for 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Sauk Valley put up a valiant effort, scoring 50 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Malcolm X's defense stepped up in key moments, forcing 10 turnovers and coming up with 9 steals to slow down Sauk Valley's offense just enough.

Malcolm X shot 41.6% from the field and an impressive 44.4% from three-point range, sinking 16-of-36 from deep. They also made the most of their opportunities at the free-throw line, hitting 73.1% of their shots.
