The Malcolm X College Hawks secured their second conference win of the season, defeating the Kennedy-King Statesmen 92-65 on December 3. The Hawks improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Statesmen fell to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Malcolm X’s offensive firepower was on full display, with four players scoring in double figures. Leading the charge was Collin Woods, who poured in a game-high 21 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting, while also grabbing 7 rebounds. Juaquin Dixon added a near double-double, scoring 18 points and collecting 9 rebounds, alongside 4 assists and 2 steals.
The Hawks set the tone early, with a balanced scoring attack and aggressive defense. Their 50% shooting from the field and 35% from beyond the arc allowed them to maintain a comfortable lead for much of the contest. Jaloni Johnson contributed 15 points, including 2 three-pointers, while Kevin McGhee came off the bench to score 11 points, hitting 3-of-5 from three-point range.
The Hawks were also sharp from the free-throw line, converting 17 of 24 attempts (70.8%), which further widened the gap as the game progressed. Defensively, they forced 12 steals and blocked 5 shots, making it difficult for the Statesmen to find any rhythm.
