WBB VIDEO: Panthers Jump to Early Lead and Never Look Back

CHICAGO — Olive-Harvey used a dominant third quarter and an efficient scoring night from its starters to defeat Malcolm X 65–52 on Tuesday at home.

Angel Dickerson led the Panthers with 15 points, adding four assists and two steals while shooting 6 of 13 from the field. Khadijah Phillips scored 10 points and collected four steals, helping Olive-Harvey score repeatedly off turnovers. Forward Karla Thomas controlled the paint with 10 rebounds, seven points and three blocks, while La’Kyra Johnson provided a strong lift off the bench with 10 points.

Mariah Barksdale added eight points on perfect shooting from the field and from three, and Dijionna Berrien contributed six points and six rebounds while hitting six of eight from the free-throw line.

Malcolm X was led by Marshay Kellum, who finished with a team-high 14 points despite facing tight defensive pressure throughout. Nia Allen recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Oluwabukola Onigbinde added seven points, six rebounds and four steals. Lakayla Hudson contributed 10 points and two made threes, Christin Brewer posted six points and five boards and Kenosha Walker led the Hawks with 11 rebounds.

Olive-Harvey shot 45.1% from the floor and 40% from three while holding Malcolm X to 25.8% shooting. The Panthers broke open a tight first half with a 20–10 third quarter, building a lead they carried into the final minutes.
