WBB: Panthers Edge Hawks On the Road

CHICAGO — Khadijah Phillips poured in a game-high 29 points on 7-of-18 shooting with 15-of-18 from the free-throw line, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals for Olive-Harvey, while Christin Brewer led Malcolm X with 12 points and three rebounds as the Panthers held off the Hawks 64-62 on Thursday night.

Angel Dickerson contributed 12 points and four rebounds for the Panthers, Dijionna Berrien added eight points and eight rebounds with three steals, and Mariah Barksdale chipped in six points and four rebounds. Karla Thomas provided six points and six rebounds. Olive-Harvey shot 34.5 percent from the field and dominated the glass 40-25 while collecting 12 steals despite 20 turnovers in the road victory.

For Malcolm X, Diara Tolbert scored 12 points with eight assists and three rebounds, Zoe Fletcher added 12 points and three assists, and Nia Allen tallied seven points, two rebounds and four steals. Lakayla Hudson contributed seven points and three rebounds, and Kenosha Walker grabbed seven rebounds with five points and two blocks. The Hawks shot 33.3 percent from the field but mounted a strong comeback with a 39-25 second half after trailing 34-23 at the break.
