JOLIET, Ill. – For the second time in his last three outings, Alfred Lott (Hales Franciscan H.S.) of the Olive-Harvey baseball team has produced a multi-hit game as he singled and doubled in the Panthers’ 15-5 loss to Joliet Junior College on Tuesday at JJC.
Lott also had a pair of hits in Game 1 of OHC’s doubleheader against Bryant & Stratton College (Wis.) on Saturday.
Lott, a sophomore first baseman, knocked in Olive-Harvey’s first run against Joliet when he doubled in the fourth inning to cut into a 9-0 deficit. He singled and scored the Panthers’ final run in the eighth.
OHC registered its other three runs in the seventh inning after the first three batters reached base safely before scoring. Bryan Colon (Pro Baseball Academy/Arroyo, Puerto Rico) and Jorge Torres (North Shore H.S./Houston, Texas) got things started with back-to-back walks, and Rick Montenegro (Curie Metropolitan H.S.) singled to load the bases. Joseph Castillo (Bloom Trail H.S.) knocked in Colon with a groundout, and Gabriel Sanchez (Spring H.S./Houston, Texas) singled up the middle to score Torres. Montenegro crossed home plate on wild pitch.
With the single, Sanchez is hitting .500 (5 for 10) over his last three games and .400 (8 for 20) for the season.
Castillo, Ronald Applewhite (Rich East H.S.) and Kardenis Jimenez (Luz America Calderon H.S./Carolina, Puerto Rico) all contributed a single in Olive-Harvey’s seven-hit attack.
