Olive-Harvey Baseball Falls to Illinois Valley

First baseman William Wormsbecher had two hits and a walk Wednesday.
CHICAGOWilliam Wormsbecher (Pembroke Pines Charter/Pembroke Pines, Fla.) posted his sixth multiple-hit game of the season Wednesday, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk in the Olive-Harvey baseball team’s 11-3 loss to visiting Illinois Valley Community College.

On the mound, reliever Raul Estades (Osceula H.S./Kissimmee, Fla) allowed just one run and one hit in four innings.

Trailing 2-0, OHC tallied all three of its runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 advantage.  Joseph Castillo (Bloom Trail H.S.) had an RBI single before scoring on Ronald Applewhite’s (Rich East H.S.) double.  Applewhite scored on a two-base throwing error.

The Panthers’ lead was short lived as IVCC produced back-to-back four-run innings in the fourth and fifth.  Estades, however, put an end to the scoring surge when he entered the game in the sixth and held the Eagles to one run and one hit in the seventh during his four-inning stint, which also included two strikeouts.  The right-hander retired seven of the final eight batters.
