CICERO, Ill. – One day after an eight-run ninth inning fueled the Olive-Harvey baseball team to a 14-5 victory over Milwaukee Area Technical College (Wis.) – one of the premier Region IV Division III teams – the Panthers lost 7-1 and 26-1 to Morton College on Tuesday at Antonio Carbajal Field.
Kenneth O’Farrill (Vocacional Miguel Such H.S./Loiza, Puerto Rico), Ronald Applewhite (Rich East H.S.) and Kardenis Jimenez (Luz America Calderon H.S./Carolina, Puerto Rico) all singled in the Game 1 setback.
O’Farrill scored OHC’s lone marker in the opener after he raced home on William Wormsbecher’s (Pembroke Pines Charter/Pembroke Pines, Fla.) sacrifice fly to center field in the sixth inning to make it a 6-1 game.
Wormsbecher, Julio Castro (Island Coast H.S./Cape Coral, Fla.), Rick Montenegro (Curie Metropolitan H.S.) and Gabriel Sanchez (Spring H.S./Houston, Texas) each recorded a base hit in the finale.
Montenegro singled home Alfred Lott (Hales Franciscan H.S.) in the fourth inning to account for Olive-Harvey’s run production.
