KANKAKEE, Ill. – After a string of rainouts sidelined the Olive-Harvey baseball team for a week, the Panthers returned to the field Friday, where they suffered a 12-2 loss to host Kankakee Community College.
OHC jumped ahead 1-0 in the second inning when Kenneth O’Farrill (Vocacional Miguel Such H.S./Loiza, Puerto Rico) singled in Christian Perez (Colegio Bautista de Caguas H.S./Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico). But the lead was short lived as KCC answered with five runs in its half of the second.
Olive-Harvey made it 5-2 in the third inning courtesy of Perez’s RBI single through the left side that plated Julio Castro (Island Coast H.S./Cape Coral, Fla.). The Cavaliers, however, closed out the scoring with three runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
O’Farrill topped the offense with two hits and a stolen base. Reliever Jeremiah Williams (Thornton Fractional North H.S.) pitched the final three innings and allowed just one earned run.
