The Kennedy-King College Statesmen delivered a resilient performance on Oct. 18, scoring twice in the second half to complete a 3-2 comeback victory over the College of Lake County.
After falling behind 2-1 in the first half, the Statesmen responded with poise and precision. Jose De Jesus Gonzalez-Morales leveled the match in the 84th minute with an unassisted goal, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to swing momentum in Kennedy-King’s favor.
Just five minutes later, Joseph Salcedo sealed the win with a late strike in the 89th minute, finishing off a key assist from Nasr Salim. Salcedo was a constant threat throughout the match, leading the team with five shots and three on goal, while also netting the game-winner.
Yheykert Morales opened the scoring for the Statesmen in the 13th minute, converting a pass from Emmanuel Munoz to bring Kennedy-King back into the match after an early two-goal deficit.
Goalkeeper Rakan Al Mokdad made four saves to keep the Statesmen within reach, holding the Lancers scoreless in the second half.
